Logs for sale Essex.co.uk is a small scale local business, which started primarily as part of coppice and maintenance of the headlands at our farm (New Hall Farm) in Rettendon Chelmsford
Diversification over the years has led to the fast, friendly and reliable delivery of hardwood logs & firewood across the Whole of Essex including Chelmsford Colchester and Maldon areas. Being fully seasoned they are ready to burn for the warmth of a real fire this winter!

The moisture content of wood for burning should be as low as possible, but certainly below 25%
We are pleased to say our seasoned hardwood logs have a typical moisture content of around 18% , are a carbon neutral fuel, unlike coal and oil (and cheaper too!) are fully sustainable and no live trees cut down
This is particularly important if you are burning wood in a smoke exempt area in an approved appliance,
In this case the wood should be 20% or less. Wood with a moisture content above this will not burn cleanly or efficiently.
Burning dry wood is environmentally friendly, whereas wet wood causes a lot of smoke and pollution. Wet wood reduces the heat available from the wood by up to 80%. and reduces the maintenance of your log burner or open fire. Dry wood substantially increases the longevity of the flue system and gives a responsive fire with the finest and most visually appealing flame
A moisture meter is invaluable to us for establishing the water content of our logs, and the firewood that we supply is always moisture tested by us before processing
